Architectural & construction GRP
Cladding, canopies, enclosures and bespoke mouldings: composites at building scale.
Buildings wear it, so it has to last
Architectural GRP puts composites on public display for decades: cladding panels and facade features, canopies and porticos, domes, columns, enclosures, housings and water management products. Much of it is large format open moulding: big tools, long gel times, and laminates that must be built consistently across serious surface areas using hand and spray lamination.
Two things distinguish the sector. First, specification: architectural work is made to drawings, tolerances and finish standards defined by architects and engineers, often including fire performance resin systems where specified, which demands technicians who follow the laminate schedule exactly rather than approximately. Second, bespoke complexity: many projects are one of a kind, so plug, pattern and mould making is a core capability rather than a support function.
The workforce challenge is scale plus finish. Large layups need several experienced hands working in sequence, and the product is judged at street level in daylight for the life of the building, so surface preparation and finishing standards carry real commercial weight.
