Prepreg carbon at pace: low volume, high mix, and deadlines set by a race calendar.

The work

Fast parts, faster turnarounds

Motorsport composites compress the whole trade into short cycles: plug, pattern and mould making, prepreg layup, vacuum bagging and autoclave cure, trimming, bonding, fitting and a finish good enough to run unpainted. Volumes are low, part variety is high, and the calendar does not move. If the car races on Sunday, the part exists by Friday.

Specialist automotive shares the same DNA at a slightly longer cadence: niche vehicle manufacturers and tier suppliers producing carbon body panels, aero components and structural parts where surface quality is a selling point rather than an afterthought.

The workforce challenge is versatility under time pressure. The people who suit this sector move comfortably between tooling, layup and finishing in the same week and work accurately when the clock is loud. That versatility is exactly what we probe for when assessing candidates.
